Fazlin Nazir is an Acting Principal with My First Skool - NTUC First Campus, who has a vision of bringing in innovative ideas and practices as well as a research culture into the current early childhood setting. She will be heading one of My First Skool childcare centres in the east, scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2010.
Fazlin began her career in early childhood with NTUC First Campus in November 2007. She embarked on her first experience being a teacher/educator to the very young children ranging from 18 months to 6 years old in childcare. Concurrently, she undertook a part- time Specialist Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education by SEED Institute, which she successfully graduated in June 2010 and earned her the credential to manage a childcare centre.
Prior to her career in early childhood, graduating with a second class upper division honours degree in business from the United Kingdom in 1998, she was an administrator for a Family Service Centre, a marketing executive for a private training institute and IT programmes in secondary schools as well as a fund-raising executive for charitable events. She has also worked alongside disadvantaged families and their children in social services and performed the role of a caseworker, a trainer and a facilitator to empower families and equip them with the relevant knowledge and skills.
Fazlin strongly believes that the amazing talents of the very young children could be nurtured in the very early years i.e. from 0 to 6 years, coupled with consistent attention and intervention by parents. She went on to pursue her passion in early childhood education and successfully attained her postgraduate degree in Master of Education in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Australia in 2009. A great proponent of parent involvement and once a trainer in mediated learning experience, she sees herself advocating for parents to mediate with their child and be more involved in their child's learning and development.
